Alice Springs Casino is located on Australian ground, representing a small casino for local gamblers. The city includes 30,000 residents and stays away from competition located in wealthy towns - Sydney and Melbourne. As a small area, the Alice Springs venue operates smoothly but publicly. This means that everything becomes available to the general public.
About the Fine
One of the local casinos, The Crowne Plaza Alice Springs Lasseters, has just been hit with an $18,000 fine (close to US$12,083) after having problems with intoxicated players. The Alice Springs territory has a stringent policy and guidelines on drunken gambling and Local Crowne Plaza didn’t adhere to the rules.
The owner of the complex, Ford Dynasty Pty Ltd, has admitted fault for allowing gamblers under the influence of alcohol to enter the complex and place bets. A total of three incidents occurred respectively on November 5 and the other two in December.
The casino was unable to comply with gambling rules which led to the fine of $5000 ($US3,356) for a single occasion. The operator was also obliged to compensate a $1000 for each incident as a “victim’s levy.”
Current Situation
Despite the recent punishment, the company continues to operate smoothly. The enterprise has just recorded an increase in number of visitors of about 35%. It happened after the enactment of a new law which was introduced last year. According to the new regulation, police authorities are entitled to stop and question anyone who is within 20 meters from the facility.
The entire plan of the legislator is the reduction of drinking issues and prevention of consumption in local communities. If a police officer stops someone who shows signs of intoxication or the officer feels there may be instances of consumption in the prohibited area, the person can be examined and alcohol taken.
