Oranjestad, from the Dutch meaning Orangetown, is the capital and largest city in Aruba. Once, as a town is was called Paardenbaai, meaning Bay of Horses, also from the Dutch, until it got its name from King Willem Van Oranje-Nassau. Find your own new favourite venue in town; there's several bars and clubs. At the hotel enjoy the pools, whirlpools, nearby tennis and golf, or spoil yourself in the spa. Hit Palm Beach for sunning, swimming, snorkelling, scuba-diving, deep-sea fishing or any myriad of water sports. In town shop at the malls and markets like Renaissance Marketplace and Royal Plaza. Visit historic sites like Fort Zoutman and Willem III Tower. Walk the docks, by the marina or in Queen Wilhelmina Park. Check out the butterfly farm, local galleries and museums or admire local colonial architecture.
