Syringa Casino and Resort

Located in the central district of Botswana you can find the town of Selebi-Phikwe. Primarily a mining town, for vacationers, this isn’t generally a locale to stop for visiting, but rather, somewhere you stop as you’re heading somewhere else. It might be a good place to lay your head down or load up on supplies, but if you happen to be here the day or night, there are a couple things you can do. If you enjoy a relaxing day of fishing, head over to Letsibogo Dam and try to hook tigerfish or bass. Try roughing it for the day by staying at one of the nearby camp sites. Bring your tele-photo camera for some good bird-watching opportunities.

The casino probably has one of the lightest gaming sections you’re going to come across. There’s 30 classic and video slot machines and video poker terminals. Since you’re probably just passing through the region, an hour or 2 of light gaming might be all you need to catch your breath and plan your next move. Hotel/Accommodations

The lodge offers rooms equipped with air conditioning and colour tv and facilities on site include a swimming pool, fitness centre and conference rooms. Guests can visit the adjacent nature reserve with its zebra, giraffe, impala and other various animals. For sports enthusiasts, there’s an 18 hole golf course as well. Dining

When you’re looking for Italian cuisine, head to Panarottis with its pizza and pastas. For steaks, you’ll want to visit Spur International next to the lodge. For big portioned, economic meals try DoRego’s. Head into town looking for quaint local venues that dish up authentic Botswanan cuisine and try something new! Both hotel and casino staff should be able to point out the popular places the townies tend to frequent.

Attractions/NightLife

The town isn’t much for tourism, except for those that tend to stop in while passing through. There’s local bars and restaurants as well as those found at the lodge and your best bet is to find the ones that suit your tastes and budget. If you’re the outdoors type, head over to the Letsibogo Dam with its fishing and camping nearby, also good for hiking. You can check out some of the local wildlife at the nearby game reserve, with its impala, zebra, wildebeest and plethora of birds. If you’re okay with the drive, also look for the De Wildt Shingwedzi Cheetah and Wild Dog Sanctuary, Thaba Kwena Crocodile Farm, the Bateleur Nature Reserve and the Nysvlei Bid and Nature Reserve, all within about an hour of the lodge. For quiet afternoons, sip drinks poolside as your plan the next stop on your vacation.
