Boomtown Casino

A modest casino for the recreational player, Boomtown Casino, located in Fort McMurray in the Peter Pond shopping centre, offers a good selection of slots and games within its 25,000 sq ft building. Not as big as some of its brethren but enough to satisfy an afternoon or evening out. Hours of operation are 10 am to 2 am Sunday to Wednesday and 10 am to 3 am Thursday to Saturday. Boomtown Casino, while not as large as some of the other casinos within the city, has a healthy selection of slots and games to offer locals and tourists alike. Currently there are 420 slot machines including video and classic, including the recently released Dark Knight and the popular Diamond Millions. Try your luck at one of 13 table games which include 7 blackjack tables, Ultimate Texas Hold'em, poker and roulette. Their poker room deals up Texas Hold'em at $1/$2 and no limit. Tournaments are on Saturday at 4 pm and Sunday at 3 pm. Participants must come to the casino in order to register.

The casino has two venues on site. Boomtown Lounge serves its morning patrons Sunday breakfast specials such as steak and eggs. Patrons enjoy free live entertainment every Thursday to Saturday with various special events occurring during the week. Phone ahead or check online to see what is currently on roster. Specific to the casino is the Boomtown Idol contest, akin to the popular television show American Idol wherein contestants compete in a singing competition. Hotel/Accommodations

The casino does not have its own hotel. However, nearby Stonebridge Hotel has moderately priced rooms which include internet. A short car or cab fare will move you from the casino to your accommodations and back in short order.
