Anotfagasta is a port city on the northern side of Chile which was once primarily a mining community but has recently seen an upswing in tourism due to its addition of hotels and retail venues and improvement of the city’s skyline. If you’re interested in relaxing afternoons, walk along the water-front at the harbour or go shopping in one of the malls or markets, picking up souvenirs. Bring your camera to catch the sea lions tagging along the fishing boats. For architecture, visit the Antofagasta Cathedral or University of Antofagasta. For historical sites there’s the Ruinas de Huanchaca, near the hotel. After long afternoons out, pamper yourself back at the hotel taking advantage of their spa facilities.
