Antay Casino & Hotel

Founded back in 1744, Copiapo is the capital of the Copiapo province and Atacama Region. This northern Chilean city is primarily a mining community (silver and copper specifically) but there are a few good geographical areas of interest for the tourist. Spend days hanging on the beach, sunning and swimming, hiking along trails in the national parks or swinging by the lagoons. For general attractions, there’s the Copiapo-Caldera railway, built in 1850, with its original wooden railway station serving as a national monument, and the bronze statue of Juan Godoy, commemorating the man who first found the Chanarcillo silver mines back in the 19th century. Of course, after your days out, there's the casino to hit back at the hotel, with its cards, slots and even bingo.

Facilities on site include a bar, club, restaurant, spa, meeting rooms, a gym, cinema, and of course, the casino. Make sure you spend some time getting to know the hotel staff to get the heads-up on nearby attractions and the best restaurants and bars in the area.

At Light, guests can order international cuisine while dining under an indoor waterfall. Live entertainment can be found at Sujay (Thursday to Sunday) along with your meals. Other alternatives include heading into town looking for your new favourite eatery dishing up authentic Chilean cuisine or ordering from the 24 room service available to guests.

For light snacks and drinks there’s Katari. Sukha bar also serves up your favourite cocktails. If you’re interested in dancing, try Orum Discotheque. For attractions in the city, there’s the railway, with its original station still standing, or the bronze statue to Juan Godoy. You can spend the day sunning and swimming over at English Bay or go hiking along the trails over at Ojos del Salado. For more beautiful outdoor surroundings try Pan de Azucar National Park or the Nevado Tres Cruces National Park or head to one of the nearby areas like Laguna Verde, Laguna Black Francis or Laguna Santa Rosa. Once tired of walking around the city, spoil yourself back at the spa at the hotel.
