Osorno might be a primarily agricultural city, but there’s some interesting geographical features to be found as well as several outdoor activities. In the distance you can see the still active volcano Volcan Osorno. Stroll along the lakes and river like the Rahue River to take in some fishing or leisurely walks. Head to Los Lagos region for beaches and swimming. If you don’t mind the drive, there’s skiing out at at the Antillanca ski resort. Head to Puyehue National Park for flora, fauna and natural hot springs. The casino and hotel share the same complex, so you can find quite a lot accessible by sheer proximity.

Look for buffets in Olivillo Mondays through Friday with a Sunday family buffet. Speak to hotel and casino staff for nearby eateries, popular with locals and tourists, especially if you’re being budget conscientious. Alternately, the hotel provides 24 hour room service.

Attractions/NightLife

For bars, try Clube de Artesanos or enjoy your favourite drinks in the casino, hotel, or the plaza pub. Soak up the scenery with the Volcan Osorno in the distance of the Rahue River which runs through the city. Check out the indigenous flora and fauna at Puyehue National Park and visit the Puyehue Hot Springs or head to the beaches in Puyeuhue or Rupanco. For historical sites there’s Fort Reina Luisa. For architecture, there’s La Catedral of Saint Matthews and Universidad de los Lagos. If you’re traveling in January look for the Festival del Folklore Campesino and the Festival de la Carne y la Leche, Chilean Independence in September or the Feria Ganadera Sago Fisur if in November.
