Enjoy Santiago

First founded back in 1541, Santiago de Chile (or simply Santiago), is the capital city of Chile. Travelers coming here have plenty to do, and the means to do it, since Chile has the most extensive subway system in all of South America. The Andes can be seen in the dstance making for some stunning pictures and a day trip out, for some skiing and hiking. Stroll along the Mapocho River or take in some water activities like kayaking. If you look up (way up) there’s the Gran Torre Santiago, the tallest building in all of Latin America. Spend afternoons shopping in any of a dozen malls or relax in one of several green areas like Parque Forestal. There’s a large number of restaurants and cultural curiosities to help flesh out the days.

Skiing, hiking and mountain climbing can be found in the majestic Andes Mountains easily seen from the city. The area is littered with shopping malls and markets so shopping won’t be a problem. Same with dining, as there are dozens of restaurants in the city dishing up international fare or authentic Chilean cuisine. If you look sky-ward, you’ll see the Gran Torre Santiago, the tallest building is all of Latin America. Walk around taking in colonial architecture or visiting one of several local museums.
