Fairmont Heliopolis

Cairo, home to the only remaining monuments of the 7 ancient wonders of the world, draws tourists and business travelers alike. If you’re looking for a city where you can keep yourself busy during days exploring an ancient culture with its attractions, architecture, monuments and museums, then this is the destination for you. Spend days trekking through the city, nights at the restaurants, bars and clubs, and in between, if you can find the time, head on over to the casino.

Gaming

The casino actually has a rather poor offering, with its mere 5 table games and no slots. Not enough of a draw in and of itself, but if you’re staying at the hotel, you might want to head to the gaming floor for an hour to unwind, get your bearings, and plan your next move while taking in a bit of light gambling.

Hotel/Accommodations

The hotel, while incredibly light in its casino offerings, does have a lot to offer their guests. There’s 835 guest rooms with types in Heliopolis Suite and Diplomatic Suite. Rooms come equipped with 42” cable/satellite tv, air conditioning, free wi-fi and complimentary newspaper. Facilities and amenities include 3 swimming pools, a beauty salon, squash, tennis and volleyball courts, and 15 dining options. There's also 69,000 sq. ft of banquet space.

Dining

Diners will not be lacking for options here. For authentic Egyptian cuisine, there’s Egyptian Night, with in and outdoor dining, belly dancers and in-house fortune teller. For Lebanese fare, head to Al Dabuke, also with its belly dancers. For casual dining, there’s Aqua e Luce and its open-show kitchen, and menu items like Australian lamb and roasted sea bass. Far East cuisine including curries and pad Thai is available at Lan Tania. Italian dishes are prepared in Leonardo, complimented with wine by the glass. For corn tortillas and carne asada (charcoal grilled dry beef) and other Mexican fare there’s Maria’s. For Cantonese and other Asian dishes choose Noble House. For Japanese, there’s Saki Sushi Lounge. Ask about their all-you-can-eat sushi days. For Indian cuisine, there’s Raj. For lighter fare options, there’s Pizza Bar and its outdoor dining, Le Marche, with its sandwiches, pastries and desserts and Blue Lagoon, a pool bar restaurant. If you’re really hungry, opt for My Kind of Place and its breakfast, lunch and dinner buffets and 24 hour dining.

Entertainment/Nightlife

For traditional English foods like shepherd’s pie and fish and chips, try Dart’s also with its beers and whiskeys. Watch your favourite football matches here. Fuze, the lobby bar, with its live entertainment, serves all your favourite drinks as does Rainbow Bar (also in the lobby) with its Middle Eastern band. Oriental Café provides drinks and televised sporting events by the pool. Walk into the city and find your own favourite bar or club to chat up locals. Spend your days strolling through local parks and gardens like Al-Azhar Park, the Cairo Botanical Gardens, El Asmak (Garden of the Fish) and El Haqiqa El Dawliya (the International Garden). Take the kids to the Giza Zoo, the Pharaonic Village or Magic Land. Visit the mosques like Al-Azhar Mosque or the Mosque of Mohamed Ali Pasha. Swing by Abdeen Palace, home to the last Egyptian King. Shop for souvenirs in Khan El Khalily. Book a camel tour and see the Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx.
