San Salvador, capital city of El Salvador, is the 5th most populated city in Central America (2nd if you incorporate the metro area). You shouldn’t be lacking for things to do this in this half a million-plus city (or almost 2.5 mil if you include the surrounding area). Your first stop could be historic downtown and from there one of the several attractions throughout the city. Highlights include the National Palace and the National Museum of Anthropology. For bars and restaurants, trip over to Zona Rosa, also with shops and markets. When you’ve had your fill of sight-seeing, head over to the casino to try your luck.

While there are no dining establishments in either the hotel or casino, there are several throughout the city, so finding somewhere to take your meals shouldn’t be a problem. For a menu of various international items like pasta, quiche, salads, sandwiches and vegetarian options, there’s La Ventana, a restaurant that’s also a bar/lounge. Mexican dishes are served in Los Tacos de Paco. For quick eats, try Tipicos Margoth. If you head into the Zona Rosa, there’s a selection of restaurants as well. Entertainment/Nightlife

When you’re looking to dance the night away, there’s Elements with its DJs and Pueblo Viejo with Latin dancing and live music Thursdays through Saturdays. This venue also serves meals. To find various different bars, walk along Zona Rosa. During days, check out the various attractions throughout the city. If you’re interested in architecture and history, there’s the National Palace and the National Museum of Anthropology. For religious structures, try the Catedral Metropolitana de San Salvador. To sample some regional culture, there’s the Teatro Nacional de El Salvador. To find monuments, try Plaza Gerardo Barrios (Civic Plaza) with its statue deicated to President Gaerardo Baarios, the statue of President Morazan in Plaza Morazan, and the Monumento de los Heroes in Plaza Libertad. After long days trekking through the city, head back to the hotel and pamper yourself in the spa.
