Arcachon Casino

Arcachon dates back, as a town, about 150 years. It’s a commune in the Gironde department in southwestern France. It lent its name to the architectural style ‘Arcachonnaise’, and is much like classic Victorian architecture. Head to La Caravelle, open Wednesday through Sunday from 7:30 pm. Enjoy menu items like pork tenderloin, salmon carpaccio, and crème brulee desserts, or on the lighter side, various salads, escargot and gourmet coffees. You can also find fare as simple, yet delicious, as steak and fries. You can always tour the town looking for various eateries serving up authentic French cuisine, from fine dining to casual eats. Ask staff back at the hotel or casino to point you in the direction of popular venues.

Attractions/NightLife

The Formula Cabaret is held in the Imperial Lounge on the 1st floor of the casino. If you’d sooner hit the town for drinks, try Le News, Le Bar de l’Oublitar, or the Cotton Club Discotheque Retro. In town, you’ll likely want to hit the beaches, and enjoy all the activities associated with it, like sunning, swimming, wind sailing or boating. You can even try your hand at fishing. Be sure to check out Dune du Pilat, Europe’s largest sand dune, measuring in at 500 metres wide, 3 kilometres long and reaching 110 metres in height. Stroll around town, soaking up local architecture, being sure to pay attention to the locally-inspired style Arcachonnaise. Or try south of Ville d’Ete, in the Ville d’Hiver, with over 300 villas. If you’d simply prefer to unwind, head back to the hotel for a relaxing dip in the pool.
