Casino de Cabourg

Located in the department of Calvados and the region of Lower Normandy, is the French commune of Cabourg. It has a small population of just under 4000 people but is still a major tourist destination. It lies on the sea on the edge of Pays d’Auge and has a typical maritime climate (mild summers, cool winters) so be sure to dress accordingly. Enjoy long strolls out along the shore, touring the city, then have a relaxing session of gambling inside the casino.

Gaming

The casino provides a selection of classic and video slot machines (75 in total) coming in several denominations, ranging from one cent, up to $2. Multi-denomination machines range from one cent to 20 cents. Table games include blackjack ($3 and $5) and roulette ($1 and $2) and the poker room consists of three tables featuring Texas Hold’em cash games. Be sure to ask about multi-table tournaments. Both the casino and the hotel were named ‘one of the most consistent beach sets and best preserved of the Belle Epoche’ by the Ministry of Culture.

Hotel/Accommodations

Located beside (but not associated to) the casino is the Le Grand Hotel Cabourg. Situated on the sea, the hotel was once frequented by Marcel Proust. At just one half kilometre away, you can find the beach Plage de Cabourg. Classic rooms come equipped with garden views, and have double beds, superior rooms have sea-views and double beds (with balcony or terrace), and family rooms have garden views, double beds and a sofa bed. Double-room suites with either garden or sea-view are also available. The on-site restaurant faces the promenade and offers authentic Normandy cuisine.

Dining

Dine in the casino at The Restaurant View, with its large terrace overlooking the beach. Set menus include starters, main courses and dessert. Choose to take lunches and dinners in the VIP Lounge, which can seat up to 40 guests. In the hotel, you can find La Plage, offering gourmet meals and open from noon until 8 pm, or Le Balbec, open 12:30 pm to 2 pm and 7:30 pm until 10 pm, ideal for when you’re looking for seafood dishes.

Attractions/NightLife

Find DJs, karaoke and concerts in Club le Baron. Enjoy drinks back at the hotel in La Belle Epoque. Or find your own new favourite watering hole in town where you can chat up locals and soak up some culture. Weather permitting, head to the beaches for some sunning, swimming or maybe even some boating. Try over in Plage de Cabourg, half a kilometre from the hotel. For a little bit of pampering, head to the Cabourg Baths, located in the Promenade Marcel Proust. The city has some beautiful homes if you’re interested in architecture. Try along Avenue of the Sea.
