Chamonix-Mont-Blanc is a commune in France, in the department of Haute-Savoie and in the region of Rhone-Alpes. Chamonix-Mont-Blanc actually consists of a combined 16 villages and hamlets. The area has early roots dating back to 1091 and took its current title back in 1921. Chamonix, along with Saint-Gervais-les-Bains holds the record for municipality with the highest altitude in both France and western-Europe. This stems from Mont Blanc’s highest peak, which happens to fall within the territory. Enjoy home-cooking in Les Vieilles Luges, a 250 year old farmhouse which can only be reached either by a 20 minute scenic hike or through the use of skis. Complement your meals with a glass of vin chaud (mulled wine) warmed over a wood fire. For Indian cuisine, there’s Tigre Tigre, with its spicy tandoori and biryani dishes. For fine dining, there’s the Michelin–star awarded Le Bistrot, with menu items like Arctic char.

Attractions/NightLife

Enjoy quick eats and coffees and cocktails in the casino bar, located in the heart of the games room. Enjoy live music in Chambre 9, a popular spot for the after-ski crowd. Beer fan? You want Micro Brasserie de Chamonix. Look across Mont Blanc as you sip your drinks in front of the fire in The Vagabond. For live music, happy hour and an upstairs lounge, try La Terrasse or Monkey Bar. Next door to Monkey Bar, is South Bar, popular among the ski crowd, often with live music which carries out onto the terrace. Participate in various outdoor activities, like fishing, mountain climbing, hiking and skiing. Visit Museum Alpin with its rotating collections and exhibits.
