If your idea of a getaway is small, quaint, and charming, try the village of St Galmier, nestled between St Etienne and Roanne, and located on the plain of Forez. Grab your breakfast back at the casino, or head into town checking out various local eateries. Try the White Lion Restaurant, open Wednesdays to Sundays, noon and evening, open daily during summers, and with terrace dining, or ask hotel and casino staff for suggestions on places that are popular with both locals and tourists.

Have drinks in the casino or hotel bar. Try Fine Bulles or pick your own new favourite watering-hole in town, where you can sip wines and chat up locals. This is not a large city, full of dynamic nightlife and huge attractions.
