Casino de Saint Jean de Monts

Saint-Jean-de-Monts is located in the department of Vendee and the region Pays de la Loire, in north-western France, between Notre-Dame-de-Monts and Saint-Hilaire-de-Riez. This seaside resort along the Atlantic coast is a popular summer tourist destination. The town itself only has around 8000 residents. The area is divided into 2 primary sections by a dune spotted with pines (part of the Forest Pays de Monts). On one side is the heart of the village while the other contains the waterfront. The beach runs more than 8 km long, ideal for water activities for tourists and fishermen alike. While people may prefer the sands, fishers might opt for along the pier. Dinners run from 7:30 pm until 10 pm and 10:30 pm Fridays and Saturdays. This venue is closed Sunday evenings and Mondays October to March. Menu items include prune-stuffed foie gras, caramel pork, and cod. For seasfood dishes, try L’Espadon. Le Robinson serves traditional cuisine with offerings like smoked salmon, leg of lamb and a seafood platter. You can also find traditional cuisine in Le Petit St-Jean, about 1.5 km out.

Attractions/NightLife

Look for the Unfurling Festival, heald in the spring and summer, since 1993, hosting several cultural events. Club Le Carre offers DJ-spun tunes, themed nights and dancing until dawn. This venue is open Wednesday through Sunday July to August, and Fridays and Saturdays and holiday eves from September until June. Prefer lounge-style environments? Try Art Café. For bars, there’s Le Bahiana and Le Belem. Head to the beach for sunning and swimming, or into deeper waters for sailing, kite surfing and wind surfing. Off the shore or on the pier, there’s fishing to be found. Most activities to be found are based around the beach. Land activities though include hiking, cycling, and 18 hole golf. Watch history come to life and take in a medieval show in Puy du Fou. For religious sites, there’s the Church of St John, dating back to the 19th century.
