Casino de Salies-de-Béarn

Bearn (also called Biarn) is considered a traditional French province and is located in the Pyrenees Mountains. Salies-de-Béarn itself is a commune in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques department in south-western France. It got its name from the naturally occurring saline water in the area. The name Bearn come from the Beneharnum, capital city of the Venarni people, but destroyed back in 840. Over time Bearn has had several capital cities, including Beneharum, Morlaas, Orthez, and then Pau. As a literary curiosity, d’Artagnan of Dumas’ The Three Musketeers, hailed from Bearn. Spend time visiting various attractions, local churches or take the kids to the zoo. Stroll the streets soaking up local architecture. Dine in the 120-seat capacity Restaurant Over Time, with formulaic meals and a la carte dining. Hours are daily noon to 2 pm and 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm, or 8 pm to 10 pm Fridays, Saturdays and holidays. Menu items include foie gras, cabbage soup and boiled chicken. Ask about hosting your next wedding or banquet here. Fandango is a pizzeria when looking for simple comfort food. Try any number of local eateries in town, serving up authentic French cuisine.

Attractions/NightLife

Find your favourite cocktails in the bar/lounge located in the atrium of the casino. Look for concerts and live entertainment Friday evenings starting at 9 pm. Happy hours here are on Fridays and Saturdays between 7:30 pm and 9 pm. Karaoke is hosted the 2nd Friday of each month. Local bars in the area include McGuire’s Irish Pub and the Terrace Restaurant, for drinks and dining. There’s actually several attractions about to fill your days. These include City of Bees (both a park and museum), the Pyranees National Park, the Betharam Caves, and the Asson Zoo. For architecture, there’s Castle Morlanne, Castle Laas and Castle Navaiiles-Angos. For churches, try the Holy Cross Church of Oloron-Sainte-Marie, the Church of Sainte-Foy Morlaas and the Saint-Girons Church in Monein.
