Casino de Vic sur Cère

Vic-sur-Cere is a French commune and capital of the canton of Vic, located in the department of Cantal and the region of Auvergne in the valley of the Cere. Formerly a spa resort, tourists still come for the beautiful outdoor surroundings with its large green and wooded areas. If you’d like some magnificent views overlooking the older part of town, visit either the Calvary Chapel or Castelviehl, the site of the old castle. To better appreciate some of the town’s earlier glory, visit the Mineral Springs House, a former spa institute, now a museum.

Able to accommodate anywhere from 40 to 140 people, they invite you to host your next special event with them. The restaurant is open noon to 2 pm and 7 pm to 10 pm daily, except for Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Other restaurants in the area include Beausejour and Family Hotel, both serving traditional cuisine. For bay-window views of the surrounding mountains, try Bel Horizon with its regional fare.

Attractions/NightLife

Head to one of the local bars such as Au Daniel’s or Bar Les Tilleuls, or trek through town picking out your own favourite watering holes where you can rub shoulders with the locals. There are plenty of attractions throughout the old and new parts of town where you can admire architecture and soak in the rich history of the region. Attractions include the site of the old castle Castelvielh, the former home of the princes of Monaco dating back to the 15th century, the former spa institute, now a museum, Terrondou Villa, Castle Mountains, birthplace of the troubadour, with its public gardens and rebuilt in the 19th century, the Rock of Hung with its panoramic views of the town and valley, and the Cascade Salines. For more great views, try one of the religious sites, like St Peter’s Church with the statue of Our Lady of the Valley and Calvary Chapel. If you’re a fan or horse-racing, check out one of two sites, the Hippodrome de Vincennes with its 2700 m track and the Toulouse Hippodrome, with its 2950 m.
