Casino d'Yport

Yport is a French commune located in the department of Seine-Maritime and in the region of Haute-Normandie, bordering the English Channel. Locals are called Yportais or Yportaises. If you’re in Yport, chances are you’re coming from or heading to nearby Havre, or one of the other large cities. Head to the water-front, lined with various shops, ideal for scooping up souvenirs, or stroll along the pebble beach gazing out over the waters. This is a rather quiet area, so you may want to spend time in the various markets. Local ones include those in Fecamp, with a Saturday market about 5 km out, Etratat, 8 km out with a Thursday market, and Goderville, 11 km out, with a Tuesday market. If you like to admire architecture, especially churches, visit the local church, dating back to 1838. It’s quite likely, the biggest draw here and where you’ll spend the majority of your time for recreation, is the casino.

Gaming

The casino offers a fleet of 75 classic and video slot machines and video poker terminals. Denominations vary and begin as low as one cent, climbing to 1 EUR. They also offer a very limited selection of table games. There’s one blackjack table along with 1 stud poker table, both beginning at 8 pm, running until 4 am (poker ends at 3 am weekdays). While the casino may not have a selection as large as some of their brethren, there should still be enough to satisfy most casual gamblers. Those proficient at cards will likely enjoy the stud poker, but you never know when a slots jackpot will hit either.

Hotel/Accommodations

Stay at the Pub La Sirene, a small hotel offering 10 rooms, tastefully decorated and providing panoramic views of the sea. Rub shoulders with the locals in the pub, with its festive Irish music and warming atmosphere. Enjoy a broad selection of whiskeys and beers. Rooms come in single, double and triple and come equipped with private bathroom and television. Ask about their moderately-priced breakfast so you begin each day full of energy. This would also be a great opportunity to talk to staff and locals. Discover hidden gems like lesser-known attractions and various areas of interest in and around town.

Dining

Dine in L’Ascenseur (The Lift), located on the casino floor. Dishes are varied and include traditional and modern cuisine. For seafood, head to Le Nautique, ranked #1 in Yport, or Le Cabestan, a nearby creperie. Discover the best of Normandy flavours by trying various seafood platters and fish creations. Ask hotel or casino staff to point you in the direction of venues most popular with locals and tourists, or choose your own venue based on menu or budget.

Attractions/NightLife

Find all your favourite cocktails in Bar L’Ascenseur (The Lift) or choose Le Chic’Art located on the casino floor. Back at the hotel, enjoy some down-time or chat up the locals in their Irish pub, with its large selection of whiskeys and beers and traditional Irish music. Other bars in the area include La Flibuste, Le Campbeltown (also with food), and Big Ben. Local festivals include the Festival of the Sea and Painting, with its mass, votive procession, art exhibits and auction, held in mid-August. The Torchlight Festival occurs mid-July. During days, stroll along the pebble beach, admire the cliffs or walk through the local markets. Trip into neighbouring towns for more shopping and added attractions, like Fecamp, Etratat and Goderville.
