Located on Martinique’s west coast at the mouth of the Madame River, is Fort-de-France. If historical sites are your cup of tea, while in the area, you should check out Fort Saint Louis, Fort Gerbault, Fort Tartenson and Fort DeSaix. For Creole cuisine, there’s Le Club Seven, open noon until 2:30 pm and 7:30 pm until midnight. Ask about their themed dinner nights. More Creole dishes are found over in Le Bleu Marine, where diners can enjoy their meals on the terrace, overlooking the ocean. Caribbean-inspired fare is found in Le Lili’s Lounge-Bar and Restaurant. Walk around town finding other venues dishing up Creole and French cuisine. Ask casino staff to point you in the right direction.

Enjoy drinks in Le Blue Marine, Le West Indies or Le Lili’s Lounge-Bar and Restaurant. Spend days ocean-side and take part in any number of water activities like snorkelling, swimming, scuba diving, sailing, deep-sea fishing and sailing or just lie back and catch some rays. For historical interest check out one of the several forts like Fort Saint Louis, Fort Gerbault, Fort Desaix or Fort Tartenson. View some of the indigenous flora in the botanical garden Jardin de Balata or La Savanne also with a monument to Empress Josephine. If you’re looking for architecture and religious sites, try the Fort-de-France Cathedral or the Sacre-Coeur de Balata Church. Other local areas of interest include the Schoelcher Library. If you feel like sticking close to ‘home’, hang pool-side or take in a set of tennis back at the hotel.
