Senator Club Mahebourg

The small city of Mahebourg is the capital of the Grand Port District and lies on the south eastern coast of Mauritius. The claim to fame here is the biggest lagoon is all of Mauritius. Another outdoor area of interest would be nearby Aigrettes Island (Island of egrets) overseen by the Mauritian Wildlife Foundation. For historical curiosities check out the National Naval Museum. The Senator Club Mahebourg, like its sisters, is fairly new to the island, first having opened its doors in 2002. And unfortunately, also like its sisters, it’s rather light on its selection of games. Slots can be played from 10 am until 4 am while table games begin at 8 pm. There are no hotels on site, however just 2 blocks over from the casino you can find Hotel Egrets. The hotel runs on the economic side and rooms here come equipped with air conditioning and tvs. The hotel’s amenities include a restaurant, swimming pool and Jacuzzi and is also 15 minutes from Blue Bay and its beaches. Maximize your stay by having the hotel arrange airport delivery and organizing excursions into the city. Be sure to ask about popular attractions in the area and any general areas of interest.

Dining

There are no restaurants at the casino but they do have a basic snack bar. For light eats, there’s nearby Chick’s Resto, serving cold beer, chicken and pizza. For Asian fare there’s Restaurant Dragon de Chine and Namaste Kathmandu. Your best bet is to either walk about town and find your own new favourite eateries or ask hotel and casino staff for recommendations on popular local venues based on what you’re seeking in terms of cuisine and budget.

Attractions/NightLife

The same unfortunately, applies to nightlife as it does dining, as the area is not a prominent tourist location. Chick’s Resto serves cold beer and light eats but it may be best to ask for recommendations for bars or walk about finding a watering-hole that most suites your style. There are beaches in the region and Blue Bay would be a good destination for swimming and water sports or alternately, you could hang poolside back at the casino. If going out, be sure to visit the city’s lagoon, the biggest in Mauritius. For an easy afternoon out hit the Naval Museum and for a day trip head over to the Island of Egrets.
