Once a fortress, then, a prison, there’s the San Juan de Ulua Castle. Take the kids to the local aquarium, or walk along the piers. Depending when you’re travelling, there’s a couple local festivals you should check out, which are collectively referred to as the Fiestas del Boca del Rio. Look for these in June (Bocafest) and July (the Feast of Saint Ann), with dance and cultural events. Earlier in the year (May to June), there’s the Ylang Ylang Regional Expo, with rodeo, cockfights and craft displays.
