Chihuahua might not be your typical holiday destination in Mexico, but there’s still plenty to do here regardless. The city has an approximate population of 825,000 people and is the capital of the Mexican state of the same name. A good place to begin and to get your bearings would be the main square, the Plaza de Armas, where you can also find the Torre Legislativa de Chihuahua (the Legislative Tower of Chihuahua). Also be sure to check out the Federal Palace of Chihuahua, while once the jail of Hidalgo, is currently a modern art museum, and the City Hall of Chihuahua, with its dancing fountains (a water show set to lights).

For breakfasts, don’t forget about the hotel’s complimentary hot breakfast or ‘on the go’ breakfast bag. You can also find breakfast in the greasy-spoon-style venue Mi Café. Ask about their chilaquiles montados con huevos – corn tortillas with chilli and eggs. Mexican-European fusion is served n Botero’s with menu items like steak, seafood and pasta, also with breakfast buffets. Dine in the 110 year old mansion La Casa de los Milagros, indoors or out in the courtyard. Menu items include steaks, chicken, and salads. Live music is also performed Wednesdays through Sundays after 9 pm. Try high-end dining in the 19th century mansion of La Casona, with steak, seafood, pasta and an extensive wine list.

Attractions/NightLife

When sun sets and it’s time to head out for some night life, try La Roca for beer and beats, Cubo Bar Alive for live music or Cerveceria, with bands after 9 pm. For history and culture, try one of the museums scattered throughout the city. These include the Museum of Contemporary Art Casa Rednonda (once the National Railways of Mexico – Ferrcarriles Nacionales de Mexico), the Museum of the Revolution (former home of Pancho Villa), Mansion Quinta Gameros (City Museum for the Decorative Arts), the Museum of Religious Art (Museo de Arte Sacro) and the Federal Palace of Chihuahua, a modern art museum. Religious sites in the city include the Temple of San Francisco (original burial site of Miguel Hidalgo), the Church of Santa Rita (patroness of the city), and the Chihuahua Cathedral. Other attractions include the Mansion Quinta Carolina, Mansion Creel, Mansion Terrazas, Torre Legislativa de Chihuahua (the Legislative Tower of Chihuahua) and the City Hall of Chihuahua, with its dancing fountains.
