Casino Foliatti Guadalupe

Located in northern Mexico in the state of Nuevo Leon, is the city of Guadalupe. It’s also part of the greater Monterrey area. The city has been around for some time and it was first founded back in 1716 so there’s plenty of history to explore. As part of Monterrey, you’ve access to a great deal of restaurants, attractions and night life. When you’ve explored the region in depth, trek a few miles out where you can find even more to do in some of the outlying areas and adjacent cities.

Dining

Before heading out into the city, enjoy the free breakfast buffet back in the hotel. For dinners, head over to Fonda San Francisco, with its pre-Hispanic inspired cooking. Ask about their pavo en pipian de cacao, turkey with pumpkin seed and chocolate sauce. Enjoy memelas (tortillas with black beans and cheese), quesadillas and tostados (sandwiches) in La Casa de Maiz. Vegetarians should head to La Zanahoria, with its mock meat dishes. For Italian cuisine with classics like gnocchi, risotto and pizza, there’s Iannilli.

Attractions/NightLife

For some night life try one of the local clubs like Kokoloco, El Garage, Ananna Pop Bar (consider making reservations) or Skizzo Electroclub (after-hours). For live music, there’s La Tumba. For more options, try along Barrio Antiguo. Be adventurous and try a watering-hole which catches your eye and chat up some locals and down some cheap beer. For some history and culture, try the La Pinacoteca del Estado, a museum just under 2 miles from the city centre. Check out Fundidora Park, an archaeological site also with playgrounds, trails and an artificial lake. If you’re with kids, be sure to visit Parque Plaza Sesamo (Sesame Street Park). When you’ve run yourself ragged, head back to the hotel and enjoy drinks pool-side in the indoor heated pool, or relax in the whirlpool back in your room.
