Huixquilucan de Degollado (or just Huixquilucan) is a town in the Mexican state of Mexico. While at once part of the greater Mexico City, it’s also independent. The town’s name comes from the Nahuatl, meaning ‘place full of edible thistles’. It was once called San Antonio Huixquilucan. While the town itself might not be a huge draw for tourists, Mexico City proper is only about a 20 minute drive away, where you’ve greater access to restaurants, attractions, and night life. Perhaps consider the town as a nice little get-away from the big city and make day trips in for dinners and night life while coming back for a peaceful little stay. You could opt for the reverse, and stay in Mexico City, and visit the town for a nice little day trip, popping into the casino for a session of gambling.

Dining

You shouldn’t have any problems finding authentic Mexican cuisine. Options nearby include Izote and La Valentina. For a broader selection, head into Mexico City’s downtown core, or ask hotel and casino staff about local venues that are popular with both locals and tourists.

Attractions/NightLife

Huixquilican itself is rather lacking on the night life front. The good news is that you’re only about 20 minutes from the downtown core of Mexico City where you’re spoiled for choice. Some of the many options include Love, a rather up-scale club (be forewarned, you might need reservations to get in), the California Dancing Club, Go Go Lounge, Cream, Rioma, El Rincon Cubano and Altavista 54. As for local attractions, again, this is mostly a town lying outside Mexico City proper. You’re better off checking out the big city attractions with its museums, religious sites, cultural houses, monuments and museums and treating the town as a quiet get-away.
