To sample even more Mexican fare, there’s innumerable road-side stalls or you could always ask casino staff to suggest popular local venues. There’s also the 24 hour restaurant back at the hotel, Restaurant Shine, with its regional and international menu items.

Attractions/NightLife

There’s plenty of night life to be had, as would be expected from a city this size. Local clubs include Studio and Rio Latino. A local bar with live music is Johnny Gringo, also serving food. For more live music try Antropia Café Concert. For history and culture try the following venues: The Teatro Doblado, which hosts concerts and plays, the Casa de Cultura Diego Rivera, and the Museo de la Ciudad, showcasing the works of local and international artists. Religious site include the Basilica Cathedral of Our Mother of the Light, completed in 1866 (though construction began in 1746), and the Santuario Expiatorio del Sagrado Corazon de Jesus (the Expiatory Sanctuary of the Sacred Heart of Jesus) which first began construction back in 1920. Other attractions include the Municipal Palace, once a military barracks, the Arco de la Calzada de los Heroes (the Heroes’ Causeway Arch) and the Leon Zoo.
