Puerto Vallarta is a resort city located on the Pacific Ocean’s Bahia de Banderas and has a population of about 255,000. There are no hotels on site. For an all-inclusive stay, choose the Golden Crown Paradise Resort. Rooms are decked out in tropically-inspired décor and some include ocean views. The Convention Centre can host anywhere from 80 to 450 people, great for business meetings or weddings.

Choose to dine at the resort, or head into town and sample all the best that authentic Mexican cuisine has to offer. Try Emiliano Restaurant, Andrea or El Arrayan. For seafood, there’s Le Kliff or Adauto’s Beach Club. When looking for open-air dining, there’s epoca. For breakfast buffets, a la carte lunches, and themed dinners, head to La Ribera.

Attractions/NightLife

Be sure to hit one of several beaches for a myriad of water based activities, like swimming, snorkeling and scuba diving. Try something more adventurous like deep-sea fishing or swimming with dolphins. Depending on when you happen to be in the area, there’s several festivals throughout the year. Look for the Flower and Garden Festival (February), Electro Beach (March), May Festival, Dia de Muertos (November) and Los Posadas (December). There’s plenty of night life to be found with the bars and clubs about. Options include La Regadera, for karaoke and dance, La Ingrata, a pub, CC Slaughters (a gay bar), Club Roxy Rock House and Bar Oceano. For live music, there’s BeboTero. Take a trip over to the Marieta Islands where there’s plenty of marine life. The main square, Plaza de Armas, sometimes has public concerts. Other attractions include City Hall, the Saucedo Theatre Building, the Cuale Archaeological Museum and the Malecon, with its sculptures. When looking for souvenirs or supplies try the markets Mercado Isle Cuale or Mercado Municipal Cuale.
