Walk along the streets and put your best haggling skills to use, or try one the malls like Plaza Rio, Plaza Carrousel, Galerias Hippodromo or Centro Comercial. Otherwise, you might want to stick to the Avenida Revolucion in Zona Centro, the main tourist section.

You can find authentic Mexican fare in Café La Especial, Bol Corona, El Mazateno, Chiki Jai and La Cantina de los Remedios. Seafood can be found at Los Arcos or Negro Durazo. Serving breakfasts, lunches and dinners 7 days a week is Albahaca. For light eats try Taqueria. The city is also home to the ‘Tijuana Special’ – essentially enchiladas, rice and refried beans.

Attractions/NightLife

There’s really no end to the amount of bars around the city – the streets in some neighbourhoods are pretty much lined with them. It’s really a matter of choosing the ones that most tickle your fancy. Bar-hopping is quite popular (moving from one bar or club to the next). Try along Avenida Revolucion, in the Plaza del Zapato or in the Zona Rio. A familiar name might be Senor Frog’s. Bars and clubs in the city really vary – from dives, to trendy, to strip clubs. It really just comes down to preference. This is an excellent time to grab those souvenirs for back home. There’s several malls and markets, but you can easily wander along the stalls in the streets as well. Forget price tags. This is the time you really want to put your haggling skills to the test. If you’re here during the summer, you can catch bullfights in Playas de Tijuana. Note as well, that while the city for the most part is rather safe, it’s also incredibly busy – use common sense in large crowds, markets and bars and keep your valuables protected.
