Big Bola Casino - Tlalnepantla

Tlalnepantla de Baz (or simply Tlalneplanta as it's usually referred to as) is a city in the State of Mexico, lying north of Mexico City. The name derives from the Nahuatl ‘tlalli’ meaning ‘land’, and ‘neplanta’ meaning ‘middle’ – thus, the middle land. The city was once went by the names Tlalneplanta de Comonfort as well as Tlalneplanta de Galeana. There’s plenty of restaurants and night life about and plenty of accommodations ranging from low to high end. Highlights by way of attractions include the Corpus Christi Church and Monastery and the Pyramids at Santa Cecilia Acatitlan and Teneyuca, both of which have small museums. When you finally tire of climbing all those steps, pop over to the casino and put your feet up while spinning the slots.

Dining

Finding authentic Mexican cuisine should be a snap. Local restaurants include Los Limoneros, serving breakfasts, lunches and dinners, both a la carte and buffet, open from 6:30 am until 11 pm, Boca Del Rio, La Antigua and Real de Catorce. For Argentinian food, there’s Punta Recoleta Restaurante. If you want more options, ask casino staff to point out popular venues nearby.

Attractions/NightLife

For a lounge-style atmosphere with live music, piano music and comedy shows, try Los Albanicos. Clubs include Hard Rain and for bars, there’s The Alps Bar. For a glimpse into ancient civilizations, be sure to head over to the pyramids. The Pyramid at Santa Cecilia Acatitlan was restored after the original was destroyed. It contains the Hurtado Museum, which holds a collection of pre-Hispanic artefacts. Another is the Pyramid at Tenayuca. It has two temples at the top of the pyramid and a small museum at the base. For religious sites, try the Church and Monastery of Corpus Christi, built by the Otomis and the Mexicas. For shopping, try E Mundo mall. When you finally get tired of traipsing around the city, head back to the hotel where you can unwind, sipping drinks pool-side.
