Casino Crown Torreon

Torreon is a city located in the Mexican state of Coahuila and has a population of about 640,000 people (or about a million and a quarter people if you include the entire metro area). Torreon, along with Gomez Palacio and Lerdo make the combined La Laguna, or Comarca Lagunera. The name comes from the 3 nearby (dry) lagoons, the Lagoon of Mayran, the Lagoon of Tlahualilo and the Lagoon of Viesca. Spend some time exploring regional history and culture by visiting the local museums, then head on over to the casino and try your luck.

While there are plenty of venues serving up authentic Mexican cuisine, you can also find restaurants serving French, Japanese, Argentinean, Chinese and Arabian. For classic Mexican fare, try Los Farolitos, which first opened its doors in 1965. Sample some 25 different types of tacos in Tio Taco. Looking for something a little heartier? Find steaks in either Los Adobes, with its live music playing as you dine, or Steak Palenque (consider making reservations at this popular venue). When looking for Italian cuisine, choose Italianni’s, serving your favourite classics, soups and salads. Attractions/NightLife

Come night time, head out to one of the local bars and clubs for drinks, dancing and music. Options include Kpital, D-Var and Cantares, also with live music. If you’re visiting the city during September, look for the Cotton and Grape Fair, with its special events, music and bull-fighting, or the Laguna Drumfest during October. To soak up some regional culture and history, check out one or all of the local museums, like the Museo Regional de la Laguna, the Museo Arocena, and the Museo de la Revolucion. Religious site include the Cristo de las Noas, the third tallest statue of Jesus Christ in Latin America, standing at just over 71 feet. When shopping for souvenirs, clothes or supplies, use the convenience of the mall back at the hotel, or head into one of the local markets.
