Oasis Hotel and Casino

Bluefields can be found on Bluefield Bay at the mouth of the Escondido River. Several cultures have come together to form an eclectic community here and include the Miskito, Mestizo, Chinese Sumu and Ramas. For afternoon strolls and sandy beaches head to El Bluff, 9 km out and sun on Laguna de Perlas. If you’re interested in sports, check out the local stadium. For architecture, try the Moravian Church. If you happen to be in the region during May, celebrate the local festival Palo de Mayo, a nearly month long festival running all the way until the 3rd week.

Gaming

The casino offers a bit of everything, from slots and video poker to live table games which include blackjack, poker and roulette. The casino runs live entertainment and special promotions so be sure to ask staff about their event calendar to make the most of your stay. Guests of the casino can take advantage of free parking. After hitting the beaches and trekking around the city, pop in for a bit of gaming and a jackpot or a lucky streak in cards could help finance a few nice nights dining out and paying for a bar tab or two.

Hotel/Accommodations

The Oasis Hotel, recently built in 2006, has 16 rooms as well as a presidential suite. Rooms come equipped with internet access, cable tv and can sleep up to 4 occupants. The hotel overlooks the Bluefields Harbour and has a restaurant on site.

Dining

Choose to dine at the hotel or one of several nearby options. Rondon serves up such menu items as lobster, plantains, beef, fish, chicken and stew. Items like fried pork skin and cabbage salads can be found at Vigoron. For dinners consisting of tajada and stewed chicken there’s Frito. Be sure to ask hotel and casino staff for recommendations on popular local eateries dishing up authentic Nicaraguan cuisine.

Attractions/NightLife

For drinks try Four Brothers, open Thrusday to Sunday or Bacchus or even walk around the city discovering your own new favourite watering-hole. Spend time sunning and swimming at one of the beaches like Laguna de Perlas or take a panga out to one of the islands. Catch a local sports game at the nearby stadium or take in the architecture at the Moravian Church out by the docks. Walk along the harbour front soaking up local culture. If you’re vacationing during the month of Mayo revel along with the locals for the festival Palo de Mayo.

Rewards/Deals

The casino does not currently have a player rewards system in place. They do participate in a fishing tournament each year where guests of the Oasis Hotel and Casino can receive a casino special promotion. Speak to staff about details.
