Lying on the border of the Brazlian city Ponta Pora, at about 2200 feet above sea level, is the Paraguay city of Pedro Juan Caballero. While perhaps good for picking up inexpensive wares, tourists should be mindful of the unseedy element within the city. Walk in groups, stick to well-populated areas and use good old-fashioned common sense when going out into the city, particularly after dark. Think of spending days checking out local attractions and walking through green areas and visiting the casino in the evenings. If you visit local bars and clubs be mindful of your surroundings.

The Ykua Poty Restaurant is open Tuesdays to Sundays and offers a la carte international meals. Hours of operation are from 11 am until 2 pm and 8 pm to midnight. Guests of the hotel can enjoy a coffee/breakfast. Alternately, trek about the city finding a local eatery serving up the best of regional cuisine. Ask hotel and casino staff to point you in the direction of places most popular with the locals. Be adventurous and try something unique to experience what dishes Paraguay has to offer.

Attractions/NightLife

There are several local bars and night clubs, ranging from dives to clubs with live music. The city has an unsavoury element so use common sense when going out after dark. This might be an appropriate time to turn down a free drink from an unknown person. Consider travelling in groups, keeping to well-lit areas or heeding the suggestions of safe venues as recommended by hotel staff. Aside from restaurants, bars and the casino itself, this isn’t really a tourist destination. Ask hotel staff about any interesting local attractions. Consider visiting local museums and ‘green areas’ during the day. Alternately, hang poolside back at the hotel.
