Casino Comas

In the district of Comas on the north side of the city you can find the Casino Comas. It’s on the very light side of gaming options, but should serve to kill an hour when you need inside and a bit of a breather from trekking through the city. The district is one of the most populous districts in the province of Lima. Originally a pueblo joven, they’ve risen from humble beginnings, through lower class to their now middle-class status. Areas of interest include the Rimac River, the Desamparados railway, the Plaza Vea Acho and the Centor Historico. One of the oldest churches in the area, the San Francisco convent, is nearby. Hang out in Plaza de Armas, sipping coffee and people watching, a common meeting area for tourists and locals.

Gaming

The casino, frankly, has a rather meager selection of games; a mere 79 gaming machines in total, and no table games. It may serve to kill a little time, provide some moderate entertainment, and be good for somewhere when you just need a little time off your feet from your busy travels. Spin a bit and get your bearings, before planning your next move.

Hotel/Accommodations

There are no hotels on site. Approximately 1 mile out from the casino you can find the St. Gabriel Hotel Nazareth. Rooms are small yet quaint and total 60. There’s free internet on site, and the hotel overlooks the Church of Annunciation. Spend some time getting to know the staff for a heads-up on great little eateries or lesser-known attractions in the area.

Dining

There are no dining facilities on site. For Peruvian cuisine try Suiza Peruana, with its breakfast, brunch and fine dining atmosphere. If you’re interested in Spanish fare, choose Anticucheria Rosalia. Alternately, ask casino and hotel staff for recommendations on popular local eateries.

Entertainment/Nightlife

Walk about finding your own quaint watering hole where you can relax to a Pisco Sour and soak up local culture, or try Monje Campero, serving both drinks and food. Visit one of the oldest churches in the city, San Francisco convent, or Church of Annunciation. Stroll through the rail yards, or hang out in the central plaza Plaza de Armas. Take a leisurely walk along the Rimac River or through the streets as homes transition from poor beginnings to the middle-class areas.
