Palacio Royal Huancayo

In the highlands of Peru, lies the capital of the Junin Region, Huancayo. Here in turn you can find the Palacio Royal Huancayo with its humble offering of slots and video poker. There are no dining facilities on site. Your best bet is to simply walk around and find one which really strikes you interest. Common fare is seafood, especially trout. If you really want to try something specific to the region, you can have Cuy Chactado. Cover the kiddies’ eyes though – it’s guinea pig! If that is the polar opposite of your idea of culinary delight, there are several vegetarian restaurants. A few places to try may be Govinda’s, with their curries, El Pobre for breakfasts and La Cabana, with Peruvian fare and music. Chat up hotel and casino staff for popular eateries close to either location and ask for recommendations based on interest (international or Peruvian cuisine, seafood or vegetarian, or with budget in mind).

Entertainment/Nightlife

There are several bars and night clubs including La Noche, Taj Mahal and El Tayta. Walk around and find your own favourite watering hole and try a Pisco Sour. Check out the local zoo during the day or visit the everlasting valley of Mantaro. Explore local archaeological sites like Tunanmarca, a pre-Incan Wanka ruin. Outdoor enthusiasts might like trekking across the Huaytapallana glacier.
