La Ballena

San Borja, with its middle to upper class residences, boasts several green areas (parks and gardens) ideal for leisurely afternoon strolls, for having picnic lunches outdoors and simple sight-seeing. The district was once combined with Surquillo and Isidro, but branched off in 1983 to find its own footing and sense of community. Local streets have been named after such prominent artists as Redon and Rousseau. Walk around and you'll come across several familiar names. It’s also home to La Ballena Casino if you’re looking for a little light gaming.

Located in the south-east end of Lima, Ballena Casino offers its patrons a very humble 100 gaming machines, less than several of its contemporaries, however, if you happen to be the area, you could still spend a couple hours relaxing and playing before heading out to your next destination. They run random activities so talk to your server about any fun events going on. Visit Stragos, a local karaoke bar to try your hand at singing or sit back, relax, and enjoy your drinks while cheering on local performers. Spend lazy day afternoons in one of the several parks in the region for some sunning, resting or enjoying a picnic lunch. Consider visiting local markets for fresh produce and make your own.
