Canouan is a small yet quaint little community – you could travel the area by foot in a day, with just 5 square miles. But you shouldn’t be lacking for things to do, especially if you’re keen on water activities like fishing, snorkelling and scuba diving. You can also find several local attractions to visit, such as the Botanical Gardens, Fort Duvernett or the Arawak rock carvings. If you’re feeling particularly motivated, consider hiking along the Vermont Nature Trail or up the La Soufriere Volcano. When you’ve finally run yourself ragged, head into the casino for a bit of light gambling. There's a lot of day activities, and when the sun sets, the casino is a good destination.

The casino might be a bit smaller than some you’re used to, with only 4000 sq ft of gaming floor. They offer 30 classic and video slot machines, video poker terminals and an additional 10 table games. After walking through the region, participating in water activities and perhaps some hiking, you might want to head inside for some R and R. The casino opens its doors beginning at 9 pm, ideal for those who prefer to fill their days outdoors.

Hotel/Accommodations

The Luxury Caribbean Villa Rentals offers villas from 2 to 6 bedrooms as well as semi-detached villas in junior, 1 bedroom and 2 bedroom suites and 1 and 2 bedroom pool suites. On site there are 5 restaurants and bars, a spa, fitness equipment, an 18 hole golf course and private beaches. The resort is near several major attractions. If you’re travelling with family, ask about their Sugar Palm Kids Club. Be sure to ask resort staff about planned activities, both land and water based.

Dining

Enjoy Italian cuisine in La Piazza Restaurant, serving breakfast and dinner. When you're looking for international fare, with menu items like sandwiches, sushi and salads, try Romeo e Giulietta, open for lunch and dinner. Dinners only are dished up in Bellini’s Bar and Bistro. Dine on international fare in this open-air venue. When you want fine dining, there’s La Varenne. French Caribbean dinners are served here. Please note, this venue is seasonal and reservations are required. For light lunches consisting of grilled meats, seafood, salads and sandwiches, enjoy your lunch at Shell Beach Bar and Grill. You can also opt for room service – or In Villa dining as it’s referred to here. For romantic meals, ask about private beach dining arrangements.

Attractions/NightLife

There’s any number of water activities to be found here, such as diving, snorkelling and good fishing. Should funds permit, consider chartering a fishing boat. Hit the Tobago Cays and check the coral reefs. For the outdoors enthusiasts, there’s the Botanical Gardens, the La Soufriere Volcano, the Vermont Nature Trail and the Trinity Waterfalls. For some local history, there’s the Folk Research Center, based in a colonial mansion. Other local areas of interest include Fort Duvernett, Fort Charlotte, Black Point Tunnel and the Arawak rock carvings. Back at the resort, participate in any number of water or land activities, spoil yourself in the spa, enjoy drinks in one of the several bars, or take in a round of golf on the 18 hole course.
