Casino Du Port

While in Dakar, (capital and largest city of Senegal) you won’t have any problems filling your days and nights. There’s ample attractions and many beaches to hit up during the day and for evenings, there’s restaurants, bars and night clubs. Trek through this million-plus-peopled city then pop on over to the casino for a bit of light gambling. If it's Wednesday, look for their bingo! A special note to anyone visiting the beaches – the beaches range from pristine to polluted and some are great for surfing while others haven’t ideal swimming conditions. Be sure to find out which are best and safest before heading out.

Casino du Port opened its doors in 1999 and provides more than 100 classic and video slot machines and video poker terminals. Machines run in denominations from as low as 5 CFA to as high as 1000. Bingo can also be found Wednesdays and Sundays. The ‘Amazing Bingo’ is held once a month- a special bingo event with huge prizes. There are also 6 table games comprised of blackjack, stud poker, Casino Hold’em and roulette. After long days touring the capital or hanging at the beaches, pop in for cards, slots and bingo - pretty much a little bit of everything!

Hotel/Accommodations

There are no hotels on site, however you can find the Ibis Dakar Hotel at just 0.4 km from the casino. The hotel offers 106 rooms equipped with air conditioning and internet access. Standard rooms come with one double or 2 single beds. Superior rooms come with one double. On site is a 24 hour bar and a swimming pool. There are several hotels throughout the city. Choose the one best suited to your comfort levels and budget.

Dining

When looking for Italian cuisine head to Brasserie Port, with such classic menu items as pizza and pasta as well as fish dishes. If it’s Mexican cuisine you’re after, there’s Le Mex, also a lively bar in the evenings. You won’t be lacking for dining options in the capital city. The hotel is located in the downtown core, so you can trek around finding somewhere serving authentic Senegal cuisine, or ask hotel and casino staff for tips on venues popular with locals and tourists.

Attractions/NightLife

The bar in the casino serves all your favourite cocktails as well as providing big screen tvs showcasing major sporting events. There’s also live music after 9 pm Fridays and Saturdays. If you’re into the club scene, there’s several. Options include PlayClub, Dakar, Le Seven, King’s Club and Sunset. Live music can be found at Alize Club. This is a great place if you like hitting the beaches – some are ideal for sunning and swimming, while others have good surfing. Beaches can be hit and miss for cleanliness so ask around about the best ones. Beaches in the area include Plage DN’gor, Plage de Hann, Plage de la Voile d’Or and Plage Monaco. When looking for galleries and museums try IFAN (Institut Fondamental d’Afrique Noir) Museum, Espace Culturel VEMA, Yassine Arts Centre, Galerie Le Manage and Galerie Nationale. There’s various religious structures and sites in the area such as the Grande Mosquee, Mosque de la Divinitie and the Layen Mausoleum. Other areas of interest include the Maison des Esclaves and the Les Mamelles Lighthouse.
