Casino Des Iles

With a population of around 6500 people, Praslin is the second largest island of the Seychelles and sees a good tourist trade with its abundance of hotels, resorts, and attractions. And of course, there’s the beaches. People enjoy the sunning and swimming and numerous water sports, like snorkeling, sailing and scuba diving. Guests be aware: within only recent history, sharks have come into ‘safe’ waters, so exercise caution and common sense when out. The Casino Des Iles has 50 of your favourite classic and video slot machines and video poker terminals plus an additional 10 table games comprised of blackjack, poker and roulette. They casino may be a bit light on selection, but considering you’re likely to be spending a lot of time around the pool, in town and at the beaches, this could make for a nice relaxing evening of spinning the reels and playing cards. Please note, a dress code comes into effect after 7 pm, so if you’re coming in from the beach, pop back to your hotel for a quick change of clothes. The restaurant is less formal, but no shorts on the gaming floor.

Hotel/Accommodations

There are currently no hotels on site. About a half kilometre from the casino you can find the Cote D’or Lodge. There are 37 bungalows set amid gardens and overlooking the beaches. Ask about meal inclusive packages and be sure to take advantage of their daily planned activities, nightly entertainment and even boating trips. Be sure to ask staff while here about the best places to visit such as bars and clubs and local attractions.

Dining

Located in the casino is Tante Mimi, serving up Creole cuisine. While the building itself is fairly new, its décor hearkens back to colonial times with its overhead chandeliers and general atmosphere. There are several dining options on the island. Recent tourism has brought with it more restaurants so feel free to wander about choosing the one which best suits yours tastes and budgets, or ask casino and hotel staff for recommendations on places popular with tourists and locals alike.

Attractions/NightLife

Again, tourism equals nightlife, and there’s bars and clubs scattered about the island. There’s nightly entertainment over at the resort or you can try Jungle, a nightclub popular Fridays and Saturdays, or wander about and choose your own new favourite watering hole. A big draw to the island are the beaches. Take part in any number of water sports like swimming, snorkeling, scuba diving and deep sea fishing. Arrange your own affairs or take part in the planned activities at the resort. Ask about their boat excursions.
