Commercial Casino

This casino is highly rich in history, having been built in 1869. Before it became the Commercial, it was originally known as the Humboldt Lodging House and was then changed to its current name in 1941. There are many stories and rumors as to events that happened on this property years ago. It is said that in the 1800s, this site was the scene of a murder. Guests have stated that they have seen apparitions roaming the second floor, and perhaps that’s why they no longer make use of their hotel. Another unique fact about this casino, is that they have a 10-foot stuffed polar bear placed at their entrance in honor of a man that was killed years ago and it has been in the same spot since 1958. This casino is ideal for locals or individuals just passing through, however, if you’re looking to make a stay out of it, there are definitely nearby hotels that would be happy to accommodate you. The casino is small in size but they offer a number of loose Slots, and one restaurant is offered. Visit this spot if you’re looking for fun, a bit of history and possibly a few haunts!

Gaming

The casino is basically made up of Slots. If this is your cup of tea, then you’re in luck. They offer all kinds, including multi-denomination, penny, nickel, dime, quarter, dollar and Video Poker machines. This property no longer offers hotel accommodations to guests. However, there is a hotel nearby, literally within walking distance from the establishment. In fact, Stockmen’s Casino and Hotel and Commercial Casino are owned by the same people. You’ll have the convenience of both casinos as well as a player’s card that can be used interchangeably between the two. They would be happy to accommodate you for the night or as many nights as you plan on staying. The Gold Country Inn and Casino is also another nearby location in Elko where guests can choose to stay as well.

Dining

You’ll find only one restaurant at this casino and you’d better enjoy your food with a bit of a kick. At Amanda’s Fonda, they offer authentic Mexican dishes at reasonable prices and they typically offer promotions or coupons to make your dining experience even easier on your wallet. On the menu, you’ll find favorites like nachos, tacos, tortas and burritos, as well as more traditional dishes including chile rillenos, carne en su jugo and tamales. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is lively, and it’s a great place to unwind and have a few cocktails!

Entertainment/Nightlife

Aside from the gaming, there is not much else offered in terms of entertainment at Commercial Casino. However, if you do decide to play here and then stay the night at Stockmen’s, you’ll find a bit of entertainment there such as live entertainment which is featured on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights in the showroom. The town of Elko also sponsors a number of entertaining community events, including the Cowboy Poetry Gathering, the Elko Mining Expo, and the Elko Motorcycle Jamboree.
