Delta Saloon

The Delta Saloon, and, in fact, Virginia City on the whole, gives visitors a chance to experience a blast from the past in this Old West themed town. Virginia City was first established in 1859 when the Comstock Lode, the first silver deposit in the United States, was discovered. As one would expect, spectators and workers alike flocked to the city to try to strike their fortunes in the silver mines. As a result of this discovery, the population grew exponentially to a peak of about 25,000. Of course, all of the silver was eventually mined out and the town gradually declined to its current population of just over 800. In fact, Virginia City is no longer a city, but rather, a Census Designated Place (CDP) which means that it is an unincorporated area that is recognized widely enough to merit its own ZIP code. Don't let the negligible population make you think there's nothing to see here, though. While there may no longer be, "Silver in 'em hills," Virginia City draws a tourist base of over two million visitors a year and it is a National Historic Landmark District. While most claims are difficult to verify at this point, this venue has a bit of history of its own with their, "Suicide table." It is rumored that a good few gamblers committed suicide at that very table after undertaking substantial losses. One specific case was that of Black Jake, who is alleged to have offed himself after undertaking (no pun intended) a loss of $70,000 in one night. This property, as one would expect, has an old-western themed front, and you won't find any of the Vegas neon at this establishment as just has the name painted on the front and that it was established in 1863. This location also features a medium-sized convention center.

Gaming

The gaming at Delta Saloon consists of 138 slot machines, video keno and video poker games. They also intend to offer sports betting at some point in the future, but do not yet as of the time of this writing, so if you'd like to post a wager on your favorite teams, we suggest you call the saloon and see if that is in the works yet. The machines come in a wide variety of games and denominations to serve players of most levels, except high-rollers may not find anything with enough risk for them.

Hotel/Accommodations

Unfortunately, Delta Saloon does not have a hotel, however, there are a number of old-fashioned Inns and Bed & Breakfasts in the town which has a total room count of about 220. Every hotel or B&B in Virginia City is quaint and charming.

Dining

Delta Saloon features the Sawdust Corner Restaurant which is open from 8:00a-4:00p daily, except is open from 8:00a-8:00p on Wednesday, and serves American food.

Entertainment/Nightlife

Virginia City largely rolls up the streets at night, while this place is an Old West history lovers paradise, there's not much in terms of a nightlife with exception to the lounges.
