Livingstone (also called Maramba) was once the capital of Zambia, though that honour now belongs to Lusaka. The city is named for David Livingstone, the first European explorer to come here. To check out the history of the region there's the Livingstone Museum. While this city may be smaller than some, there are still several things to do while here, not the least of which is visit Victoria Falls. The border-town city sees a brisk tourist trade as does its counterpart on the Zimbabwe side of the falls. Rent a taxi and head over to Victoria Falls Park to best experience this natural wonder. While in the area, check out the wildlife in Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park or try the Zambezi Elephant Trails

For light eat lunches poolside try the Poolside Grill & Pool Bar, also with live music. There’s several restaurants in the city. Simply find the one best suited to your tastes and budget. Ask staff for recommendations on venues popular with locals and tourists.

Attractions/NightLife

The biggest draw here is likely the falls – Victoria Falls, one of the seven wonders of the natural world. They’re a few kilometres out from the city (about 10 km), so plan or hiring a taxi. To travel through local history, head over to the Livingstone Museum. For indigenous wildlife there’s Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park with animals like the hippo, zebra, impala and giraffe (the other section of the park contains the falls) or try the Zambezi Elephant Trails. Enjoy drinks poolside at the hotel at the (aptly named) Poolside Grill & Pool Bar or head to Hippos, a local bar. For nightclubs, there’s Chez nTemba, open daily. Rhapsody is more upscale and includes a restaurant.
