Zambezi Valley Hotel & Entertainment Centre

Near the Kariba Dam, a popular tourist attraction, at the north western end of Lake Kariba near the Zambian border, is the town of Kariba and with it the Zambezi Valley Hotel & Entertainment Centre. The town only has a population of just over twenty thousand but still sees its share of tourists. Outdoor enthusiasts will enjoy the area, with its fishing, boating and local wildlife. To best view the indigenous fauna think about booking yourself a safari. After a few hours out in the hot African sun, head over to the casino for a bit of light gaming.

Gaming

The casino is rather light in its offerings with just 30 slot machines and video poker terminals and zero table games. Still however, after long days out exploring the town, participating in water activities and possible safaris, a little R and R out of the sun might be what you’re looking for. Who knows? The Zambezi Valley Hotel is one option when you’re looking for somewhere to stay. They do have a restaurant on site and could provide information when you’re looking for the best places to eat, bars to frequent and have insight into some of the lesser-known yet interesting attractions in town. Ask about guided tours and safaris and help with your transportation needs. Alternately, trek into town looking for lodges, especially if you’re a bit more budget conscientious.

The hotel has a restaurant on site or you could opt to walk into town finding other eateries serving up authentic African cuisine. Use your time to chat up both hotel and casino staffs for recommendations on places to eat that are both popular with locals and tourists.

Attractions/NightLife

Tourists coming to the area are generally attracted to 2 types of activities: those which are water based such as fishing and boating or checking out the local wildlife. Consider booking yourself a safari or guided tour. Maximize your vacation by taking advantage of resources available to you, like hotel and casino staff for information on things to do and places to see. A couple attractions would be the Kariba Dam and the Operation Noah monument. Sight-seeing is always a good option as you stroll along Lake Kariba. Other activities may present themselves that may interest you like canoeing or riding the river on a houseboat. For something a bit different, try heading over to the crocodile farm. For nightlife, find your own favourite watering-hole where you can rub shoulders with the townies and soak up local culture. Sometimes memories are best found in the little hidden gems off the beaten track.
