Leopard Rock Hotel & Casino

With a population shy of 200 K, Mutare is the third largest city in Zimbabwe and is here you can find the Leopard Rock Hotel & Casino. While a larger city, it still has its rural roots with its citrus farming, cattle ranching and mining. For outdoor enthusiasts, there’s good fishing, hiking and mountain climbing. If you’re inclined to visit museums, there’s the Mutare Museum, the National Gallery and the Utopia House Museum. For a more historical slant, try the Iron Age Village. If you're keen on seeing the indigenous wildlife, head to Rock Game Reserve or the Cecil Kop Nature Reserve.

Dining

Located in the Turret Wing you can find the La Roche Restaurant with its meals prepared from fresh, local ingredients. The Terrace Restaurant is ideal for outdoor lunches as you dine protected from the sun under over-sized umbrellas. For dining with a piano accompaniment, there’s The Conservatory. The Clubhouse offers light menu items as well as buffet meals. There’s several restaurants in the city, so walking about and finding your own eatery serving up authentic African cuisine shouldn’t be too hard. Be sure to ask casino and hotel staff for recommendations on the best local places outside the hotel.

Attractions/NightLife

To view sporting events, try the gentleman’s club Napoleon’s Bar. If you’re out on the golf course, pop into the Clubhouse for drinks between or after holes. There’s plenty to do in the city for outdoor enthusiasts aside from the hiking, fishing and mountain climbing. You can view several animals like impala and zebra at the Rock Game Reserve or the Cecil Kop Nature Reserve. For leisurely strolls, there’s the Bvumba Botanical Gardens and the Hivu Nursery. If you’re interested in museums, there’s Utopia House Museum (also with the Phoenix Theatre inside), Mutare Museum, the National Gallery of Zimbabwe and Iron Age Village. Other attractions include the Mayor’s Parlour, the Turner Memorial Library and Courtland Theatre, all located within the Civic Centre Complex.
