Elephant Hills Hotel & Casino

Located on the southern bank of the Zambezi River at the western end of the Victoria Falls, is the town of Victoria Falls itself and is here you can find the Elephant Hills Hotel & Casino. The falls fall into two national parks: Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park in Zambia and Victoria Falls National Park in Zimbabwe. There are several activities here for the vacationing tourist, such as bungee jumping, white-water rafting and checking out the native wildlife. Should funds allow, optimize your visit by booking a safari and seeing the indigenous wildlife. After exhausting afternoons, pop into the casino for a bit of relaxation and gaming.

The casino has 54 slot machines and video poker terminals as well as an additional 14 table games. The latter consists of 6 blackjack tables, 6 roulette, 1 baccarat, and 1 mini-baccarat. Both low and high rollers should find something to accommodate their needs with mini-baccarat starting as low as 1 ZWD and running up to 1000 ZWD. The hotel has 276 rooms equipped with air conditioning and satellite tv, with 24 hour room service available. Each room has a balcony with either gardens or area views and the hotel boasts a miniature display of the falls inside. The hotel lies just 4 km from town, allowing for convenient access to most attractions, while having views of the Zambezi River. Amenities and facilities include dining facilities, bars, 2 swimming pools, tennis courts, squash courts, a gym, sauna, beauty salon and golf course. Ask about their free shuttle service to and from the falls.

Dining

Samukele Carvery overlooks the pool and golf course and has an a la carte menu. Look for live entertainment held in this 180 occupancy venue. If you’re looking for buffets, head to Kasibi Terrace, also with an a la carte menu. For light snacks in a relaxed environment, try Mapopoma Lounge with its couches and coffee tables and a glass wall offering views of the falls. To dine outdoors, there’s the Pool Area, with its BBQ and a la carte menu. Dine while being entertained by African dancers and drummers. Guests can enjoy 24 room service or alternately, head into town looking for their own eatery serving up authentic African cuisine.

Attractions/NightLife

Take in 18 holes of golf at the only course in the area and designed by Gary Player. Stop halfway through and enjoy drinks at the 10th hole in the Halfway House Restaurant and Bar, also serving light meals. Participate in several activities on site like tennis, squash and swimming. Overlooking the golf course and pool is Mapopoma Bar, serving light lunches and cocktails or try Poolside Bar, with its outdoor gazebo and limited seating. Activities in the area, besides viewing the falls themselves include bungee jumping, white water rafting and boating. Should funds permit, consider taking a cruise through the region. For wildlife try the National Parks to check out elephants, white rhinos, buffalo and giraffe or book a safari.
