Games Global, which was formerly known as Microgaming, continues the proud tradition of establishing partnered micro-studios. One of these is Area Vegas, whose selection of games is small but innovative. The company didn’t spin out to existence from thin air, as the people behind it were previously known from SpinPlay Games.

As the name suggests, the studios are based in Vegas. This time around they are combining the local glamor with the best possible mathematics, unique reel play, and supreme quality. Now, we haven’t got all that many games to judge from, but what we have seen looks pretty good. The company was established in 2023, and though they hold no license themselves, they do operate under a global brand.

Roots From SpinPlay

Officially, Area Vegas is a SpinPlay sister studio. What this basically means, is that they are under the same ownership, but have different functions. For now, and these are relatively early days for both companies, the differences between the two teams aren’t considerable.

Both are concentrated in Las Vegas, and seek to bring the local glory, fame, and luxury on the reels. As far as we can tell, the main difference is that SpinPlay concentrates heavily on game mathematics, whereas Area Vegas is more interested in unique game features. Otherwise, the qualities of the games are similar, at least when it comes to graphics, effects, and sounds.

Connection to Games Global

Microgaming used to be one of the biggest companies in the industry, and they still remain in certain areas. They are responsible for countless hit games, and a massive selection of progressive jackpots. However, this all changed in 2021 when the Quickfire platform, which is to say all casino games, were sold to Games Global.

Who are Games Global then? They are the continuation of the gaming platform established by Microgaming. To be honest, there’s a lot of corporate structuring going on here, and we would not be all that surprised if these companies were all connected in one way or another. What we can say for sure, is that all the games and studios moved to Games Global. And so did the clients, which means the games are still available in all the same online casinos.

Conclusion

Area Vegas is a spin-off studio, from a small gaming studio tied to a bigger gaming company. It’s a rather complicated setup, though the end result is rather easy to understand. This is a small gaming studio producing games that fit a certain niche. That’s not to say the games couldn’t be or won’t be popular. The way the special features work shows a lot of promise. Simply this all means that you shouldn’t expect new online slots frequently. They’ll come when the time is right, and are sure to surprise you.
