The Malta-based company is relatively new on the iGaming scene, but it’s part of a larger group of companies specializing in media platforms and production with global offices located in Estonia, London, Los Angeles, Malta, Romania and Tokyo. With influences from animation, film and music, the mission is entertainment with a Japanese flair, which is targeted at the European market since online gambling isn’t permitted in Japan. Branded content also influence the content such as slot games based on the authentic themes of Cryptract, Dragon Hunter and GunGrave. Founded in 2016, its debut was at SIMGA in 2016 and they attended their first ICE Totally Gaming expo in early 2017. The buzz created has led to event sponsorships of their own as discussed in our exclusive interview with the CEO, Mr. Mitsuya Fujimoto.

Slot are the focal point. Elements from pop culture are included in the themes. For example, in February 2017, the company partnered with YouTube sensation PIKOTARO, who performed Pen-Pineapple-Apple-Pen, produced by Daimaou Kosaka. The deal will see Ganapati Malta develop a video slot based on the quirky song. We asked Fujimoto what on earth a Pen-Pineapple-Apple-Pen was and he made things a bit clearer for us.
“Ok, so you take a pen, a pineapple and you get pineapple pen. Take another pen, add an apple and you get…you’ve guessed it, apple pen. Add them together and what do you get? PPAP as it’s more affectionately known, is an internet phenomenon created by Japanese artist Pikatoro, it’s an insanely catchy song and once we heard it we knew it would work perfectly with our strategy”, he said.
We have yet to see the games launch online, but they’re coming soon.
