Shuffle Master is part of SG Gaming, a brand that seems to be present in every part of the casino gaming scene. What is it exactly that the company does, that makes it worth its own brand? Well, the fact that it’s already an established brand is one thing. See, Shuffle Master isn’t something SG Games dreamed up, rather they acquired the company. Before this, the company was extremely well known in certain circles, though they certainly operated in a very limited niche.
The company started operating in 1983, so it definitely has a long track record in the industry. Today they produce a lot of different games, with video slots being their latest addition. Their roots, however, are in card shuffling machines and other aides for table games.
The Road to Casinos
The company started its operation with the help of a single invention: way to shuffle card decks mechanically, thus negating any advantage of card counting. The invention quickly became popular, and just as quickly became obsolete, as casinos moved into using multiple decks and the invention was only designed for use of one deck.
However, this opened another route for the company. They moved into producing casino games, operating in the land-based casinos with some success. Soon their gaming activities became more profitable than machinery, and that holds true to this day. Now the company is spreading into different games and markets, including online casinos.
From Bally Technologies to SG Gaming
The company had quite diverse adventures, even changing their name to SHFL Entertainment, before being bought by Bally Technologies in 2013. By this point, they had amassed a rich portfolio of games, concentrating heavily on traditional table games and online versions of these. At some point, they almost entered the online poker business, but judged the situation correctly and decided not to.
It was only a few years later, in 2014, that Bally Technologies was acquired by Scientific Games. Shuffle Master was made its own brand again, and today they continue to provide online casinos with the best of the best when it comes to table games.
Software or Hardware - Why Not Both?
A company that has operated this long has certainly amassed a wealth of knowledge. A lot of this comes from the traditional table games played in land-based casinos. After all, the company started operating in an era where the internet was only a distant dream.
Today they have mostly moved away from these hardware solutions into software. The selection covers everything from slots to table games and other oddities, as well as all the necessary background applications to make everything run smoothly.
We have no current license information available. Given that the company works under SG, you can be certain that everything is in order in several different jurisdictions.
