US Florida Online Casinos
Florida regulates a few different forms of gambling or operates them via compact with Indian tribes. Any form of gambling not specifically authorized by the state constitutes "Unregulated Gambling" and is a Class II Misdemeanor. As a practical matter, we are not aware of any player ever being prosecuted in the State of Florida under this code.
Florida is one state specifying unlawful gambling is punishable for the player as well as it is for the operator. As one would expect, operating an online casino out of the State of Florida that caters to residents in Florida is completely illegal. Online operators overseas who offer their services in Florida do so technically violating Florida law, but they are out of Florida’s reach.
From our restrictions page, you can see that “whoever plays or engages in any game at cards, keno, roulette, faro or other game of chance, at any place, by any device whatever, for money or other thing of value, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor of the second degree, punishable as provided in s. 775.082 or s. 775.083.
It is clear and unambiguous that this law refers to mere players and, ‘By any device whatsoever,’ would clearly include computers used for the purpose of online gambling.”
In other words, the computer would be being used as a gambling device, and would, therefore, fall under this law. The State of Florida was once known for having several "Internet Cafes," which were basically a front for computer gambling, but it is highly unlikely that law officials would take action (or even know) if you gambled out of your own home online.
Again, we have never heard of this happening in a single instance.
Even in the event of a raid on an illegal gambling establishment or illegal sports betting ring, as a practical matter, law enforcement has gone after the operators as opposed to mere players.
For this reason, the vast majority of online casinos that offer services in the United States offer them in Florida, too.
Sweepstakes and lottery games are highly popular in Florida, where players enjoy a variety of options, including state-run lotteries and sweepstakes casinos. These games offer a chance to win prizes while adhering to legal regulations.
Is Online Gambling Legal in Florida?
While a variety of land-based gambling activities in Florida are legal, online gambling is not. The law explicitly says that gambling on any device, desktop and mobile devices included, is illegal and punishable. Any form of gambling not authorized by the state, including online gambling, is considered “Unlawful Gambling” for both operators and players. Anyone caught gambling online is subject to a Second-Degree Misdemeanor, which is punishable with a fine of up to $500 or up to sixty days in county jail.

But while with raids and arrests, Florida disrupts illegal land-based gambling networks, we could find no records of similar arrests and punishments for online gambling operators. And while the law is unambiguously saying that players will be punished for engaging in illegal gambling activities, there’s no evidence of anyone ever getting caught and prosecuted for gambling online.
That’s probably one of the main reasons why offshore operators who target US players are not afraid to cater to players from Florida.
Lottery
The Florida Lottery was founded in 1988 and is completely government-operated. It offers many lotto games, including Mega Millions, Florida Lotto, and Powerball, as well as other instant win games.
It contributes to education and has helped construct and renovate over 800 school projects across the state. Up to this point, the Florida Lottery has contributed over $48 billion to education.
Land-Based and Tribal Casinos in Florida
The legal land-based casino gambling forms in Florida are actuallyrun by the tribes. The Seminole tribe owns casinos in Okeechobee, Hillsborough, and Collier Counties, while the Miccosukee Tribe in Miami-Dade County. Other state-controlled forms of gambling that are legal in the state are pari-mutuel wagering on horses and jai-alai activities. But slots and table games, hence casino games, are allowed on the tribal lands only.
The largest casino in Florida is Seminole’s Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tampa, established in 2004. The Florida Gaming Control Commission regulates the industry and enforces criminal gambling prohibitions. New legal gambling businesses in Florida are prohibited by law, so the already established ones are the ones that can legally operate in the state.
Sweepstakes and Social Casinos Available in Florida
At the moment of writing, sweepstakes casinos are legal in Florida. However, in 2025, 2 bills challenged their legality and intended to prohibit their operation in Florida. They failed to pass, but it remains to be seen whether the legality of sweepstakes will remain.
For now, sweepstakes are big in the state of Florida, and always have been. Assuming they operate and are regulated under Section 849.094 of the Florida Statutes, they are legal, and anyone can access them. Those sweepstakes that offer prizes exceeding $5,000 must be bonded with the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.
Sweepstakes are also called game promotions in Florida and are allowed as long as the prizes are awarded based on chance rather than skill.
Sportsbetting in Florida
Sportsbetting in Florida is legal and offered exclusively on Hard Rock Bet, the online sportsbook run by the Seminole Tribe. The site launched in 2023, after the Seminole Tribe managed to sign a compact with the state to manage sportsbooks statewide. The Seminole Tribe has exclusive rights to control sports betting in the state until at least 2051.

In-person sports betting launched on December 7th, 2023, at six casinos run by the tribe. As for online sportsbetting, the tribe kept on facing new challenges, as new lawsuits kept on claiming that voter approval was required for such form of gambling to be allowed. The claims were that it violated a 2018 constitutional amendment that, for casino gambling, voter approval was required. Nevertheless, online sports betting launched as expected, and it occurs all throughout the state of Florida.
How to Find the Best Online Casino in Florida
No online casinos can operate legally in Florida, which has been established. But as we mentioned earlier, offshore operators do not seem to be bothered with the laws in Florida and continue catering to players from the state. One thing to not forget before you engage in online gambling across offshore sites is that you will be doing it at your own risk, having in mind that if caught, the state will prosecute and punish you for wrongdoing and for breaking the law. Even though no such cases have been recorded, it is important that, should you decide to play online, you must do it with great caution.
Now, assuming you’ve decided to join an online casino, here are some things to know. First of all, you must look for sites that are licensed to offer online gambling in at least one jurisdiction with legal online gambling. Sites licensed by the likes of the Malta Gaming Authority and the United Kingdom Gambling Commission are basically the safest, as they must adhere to strict rules and treat players with respect, no matter where the players are from. Since your state won’t have your back, it is essential that you join a casino with transparent rules and fair conditions for players from anywhere across the world, including Florida.
Assuming you’ve ensured to find licensed casinos, the next thing to check is their payment methods list. You must have at your disposal both standard and modern alternative solutions to use for your international transactions. Fast payouts are also important, so ensure that among the payment methods offered, you get solutions that allow for timely withdrawals.
Naturally, having a massive choice of games won't hurt anyone; try looking for sites that offer games by world-class, popular software developers. That way, you'll know that you'll have at your disposal a great choice of slots, table games, various poker variants and even Live Casino games.
Finally, check the casinos’ Customer Support responsiveness times. You must have a Support agent at your disposal for whatever you might need.
Sites that lack any of these things are not good choices for you. As a player from Florida, you must ensure to get as much as possible from the online casino you'll eventually join, given the fact that you don’t have online casinos offered in your state. Feel free to check out our list of sites that cater to players from Florida, as they have all been reviewed and you can quickly skim through the details, to figure out which ones to consider joining and which to avoid.
How to Sign Up and Play for Real Money in Florida
Assuming you found a list of online casinos that you could potentially join, and then narrowed down that list to pick the winner, it is time you learned how to register an account with that casino. Usually, the steps are the same with all online casinos, but just in case you’ve never joined one, here’s what you need to do to register an account with an online casino:
- Load the official website or app of the online casino you’ve chosen to join. Locate the Join Us/Sign Up/Register button and press it.
- In the registration form, enter the required personal details, like name, phone number, and email address.
- Create your unique password for your account, accept the T&Cs, and your account is ready!
At this point, you may need to go through the Know Your Customer procedure, or in simpler words, verify your account. This can happen later, after you deposit, play, and before you request a withdrawal, but many online casinos want to do it right away, to be certain that their players are who they claim they are. So, provide an identification document issued by the government, and attach it in the assigned field. It can be your driver's license, ID, or passport, for instance, but some other documents may be required; provide a copy as required.
From here, you can continue by making your first deposit. To do that, follow these easy steps:
- Find the Payment Methods/Cashier page and head over to the Deposits section.
- Check out the payment methods offered and choose the one that you want to go with.
- In the designated field, enter the method’s info as required (account/card details).
- Confirm the transaction, and the money will reach your casino balance, depending on the processing times that the method offers.
What Payment Methods Can You Use to Deposit and Withdraw in Florida?
VISA and MasterCard might be the most popular and widely accepted payment methods across online casinos that cater to players from Florida, but that doesn’t mean you are limited to these two. Online casinos nowadays accept plenty of US-friendly payment methods that you can use, most of which are alternative options like PayNearMe, Google Pay, Play+, Apple Pay, and Venmo. Therefore, you will certainly have options to consider before you go with one method over another.
Now, when selecting a method to eventually use, make sure you check out its transaction processing times. In addition to these, you must check the processing times at the casino you have decided to join. While most casinos and methods process deposits instantly, withdrawals usually take some time. Online casino operators usually take 24 to 48 hours to approve withdrawal requests, and from there, it is all up to the method you’ve chosen to use regarding when you can start using your winnings. With many methods, withdrawals are also instant, but with some, they take a few hours or days, too.

What Casino Software Providers and Games Are Available in Florida?
When gambling first went online, the US was not quick to embrace it; in fact, it still isn’t, given the fact that online casino gambling is legal only in several states. That being said, only a few software developers dared to cater to US players, like Dragon Gaming, WGS, RTG, and Rival, for instance. Those players who dared to gamble online, despite the online gambling ban, had a limited choice of games to try online, as opposed to their choices offline, across legit land-based casinos.
However, things have changed in the past two decades. Today, some of the world's best software developers are powering the online casino game selections at players' disposal. So many of them have been properly licensed to offer their content in US states with legal online casino gambling, like NetEnt, Relax Gaming, Evolution, and Blueprint, to mention a few. As a player from Florida, frequenting offshore casinos, however, you’ll have an even wider choice, as offshore casinos are powered by all kinds of well-known software developers.
As far as the game choices at your disposal, you can rest assured that you’ll have them all: from top online slots, to table games, and up to Live Casino games that currently rule the industry. Whether you’d like to try a gin rummy variant, Live Blackjack, or a themed slot, choice and quality are guaranteed.
What Casino Bonuses Can Players in Florida Claim?
Before we get into details about the bonus offers that you can claim as a player from Florida across online casinos, we must focus on the rules to pay attention to when choosing which bonus to claim. So, the first thing to do is to visit the casino's Bonus Terms page. Here, you will learn a lot more than you would by reading the rules on the bonus offer itself.

On that note, each bonus offer has rules written in fine print below it; this is where you learn about any limitations, restrictions, and wagering requirements the offer may come with. Some offers are only allowed for players from certain countries, for instance, or restricted to players who deposit with a certain method. Wagering requirements can vary, but the average is 30x the bonus amount. This means that after you make a deposit and claim a certain bonus, you should play through 30 times the amount of bonus you claimed.
Now that you know a bit about what to check out, the bonus offers for it's time you see which types of bonuses players from Florida prefer. Loyalty programs, of course, are important to them, as they can receive perks for an extended period of time, as long as they continue playing with one online casino site and continue proving their loyalty. Free Spins are popular https://lcb.org/bonuses/free-spin, too, as these give them the chance to play their preferred slots with a limited number of free spins. But virtually all Florida players make sure to claim the Welcome Bonus whenever they join a new online casino, because a Deposit Match and usually Free Spins, too, are at their disposal to kick-start their online casino journey.
Responsible Gambling in Florida
There are several organizations in the state that can help players control their gambling habits and offer them support in case they need help, but two of them are players’ favorites. One of them is the Florida Council on Compulsive Gambling, and the other one is the Florida Council on Problem Gambling. Each has a respective website and helpline you can use to get help.
Of course, the online casino you’ve joined should also offer the option to self-exclude, in case you’ve had enough, and other tools and resources that offer support to those facing gambling harms. Make sure you explore your online casino’s Responsible Gambling page to learn more about your options.
