History of the Czech Crown

The Czech koruna, also known as the Czech crown, is the official currency of the Czech Republic. It was introduced in 1993 and is currently one of the 11 currencies of the European Union. Legally, the Czech Republic is supposed to adopt the euro sometime in the coming years. The koruna has interesting origins. Its name was invented by Franz Joseph I of Austria back when it was used in Austria-Hungary. In 1918, after Austria-Hungary dissolved, the only successor state to keep the currency’s name was Czechoslovakia. The modern Czech koruna replaced the Czechoslovakian one when the country ultimately dissolved.

At the moment, you can find 12 different Czech crown denominations out there. Six of them are banknotes, while the remaining six are coins. The banknotes include a 100, 200, 500, 1,000, 2,000, and 5,000 Czech crown bills. The coins are 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, and 50 Czech crowns. The Czech crown is a somewhat popular currency in Europe, despite its limited use in the Czech Republic.

Which Casino Payment Options Support Czech Crown?

Online gambling might have been a point of contention in the Czech Republic until recently, but players are allowed to have as much fun as they want at licensed online casinos! Most of these operators accept a diverse range of payment options, and luckily, plenty of these payment options support the Czech crown! If you want to avoid conversion fees and other inconveniences when making online gambling transactions, here are the best payment options you can choose from:

PayPal: PayPal is easily the most popular eWallet worldwide. The service can be found in pretty much every country around the globe, and it offers players access to some excellent gambling venues! The pros of using PayPal for online casino transactions are simple. The method is convenient, fast, and doesn’t come with hefty fees attached. It’s worth mentioning that while PayPay is pretty popular, some top-tier operators still don’t offer it as a payment option.

Skrill: Like PayPal, Skrill is a popular eWallet with a global reach. It’s just behind PayPal in terms of popularity, and it’s armed with many of the same pros the former offers! By using Skrill, you’re guaranteeing lower fees, speed, and safety. Surprisingly, Skrill tends to be more widely available in online casinos than PayPal, although it’s generally less popular. Thanks to this, you have countless options to choose from when gaming online.

PaysafeCard: PaysafeCard is a fan-favorite payment option in the online casino scene. The eVoucher gives users many top-tier perks, including a lack of fees, speedy transactions, and anonymity! Since PaysafeCard is an eVoucher, it’s not connected to your bank account or other personal information. Most users are big fans of this, and it’s the main reason they choose Paysafecard to begin with! Unfortunately, the nature of this payment option also has a massive downside. Players can’t use it to withdraw funds.

VISA: Since VISA is the leading bank card worldwide, it’s one of the most popular payment options in the online gambling space. The method is one of the best-established ones on this list, and it’s regarded as reliable, safe, and convenient! Most people are VISA card owners, making it easy to transact in online casinos without taking additional steps! The downside to this method is obvious when you compare it to modern banking options. Unlike many of them, VISA transactions come with long processing times.

MasterCard: MasterCard is very similar to VISA. They’re both well-established bank cards that grant players access to pretty much every online casino out there. With MasterCard, you can expect maximum safety and an easy transaction process when depositing and withdrawing in online casinos. Unfortunately, the payment method has the same con as VISA. It can seem somewhat outdated compared to options like eWallets.

Is Online Gambling with Czech Crown Legal?

The online gambling laws in the Czech Republic have recently undergone some changes. In general, the gambling scene in the country is well regulated. There are currently four land-based operators in the Czech Republic that players can visit. While there were originally five in 2009, one closed down a few years after opening. In 2012 the country allowed offshore operators to offer their services to casino fans. These foreign operators weren’t subject to tax fee cuts, and license and penalty charges like the domestic ones were.

As you can imagine, while foreign operators thrived in the region, local ones were struggling. Because of this, changes were implemented in 2012, but online gambling was truly legalized in2014. Soon after, new legislation was drafted and put to use by 2016. These days, the Czech Republic allows operators from the EU and EEU to operate in the region. Of course, they must be licensed by the Czech government. The country also uses blacklists and bans to protect players from disreputable operators that might reach the region.
