Theme
Even though the game is called Black Hawk, the theme of this slot is not the titular animal, but The Middle Ages. In case you win in this slot, you will be the light in the darkness, but don’t forget…Dark wings, dark words!
The atmosphere is quite gloomy, with the hawk wings located above the reels. The reels are clearly marked with the arrows between them showing the payline. It is a convenient design, but the players might get confused if they attempt to figure out which payline is which.
Not much is bright:
Speaking of graphics, the symbols are unambiguous, but the design is plain and solid. The players will see everything from colorful playing cards symbols against a black surface to icons such as a skeleton warrior, castle entrance, a gold chest, a castle and the black hawk itself.
The background music doesn’t exist, but the sounds are quite powerful. Animations are featured, but you will find little joy in bats flying around your screen!
Betting Options and Other Features
This title is equipped with 3 rows and 4 reels. The total number of paylines is 54, but they are placed in a crisscross manner. In other words, 27 paylines are spread across the 2 reels on the left and the other 27 across the reels on the right.
The coin value can be changed in the bottom of the screen between 0.1 and 10.0. The maximum win is 500.00 coins! Every control button is placed below the reels and besides setting the auto play. For instance, you can click on “Max Bet” to reach the highest wagering immediately or select the speed of the reels by clicking on a small man on the right.
Features
While Wazdan was experimenting with paylines, they obviously forgot to include entertaining bonus games or rewards for players. Not everything is under the veil of darkness and two features will enlighten your way towards the winning combination:
• Wild – Presented as a bowl of light, wild can appear anywhere on the reels, substituting any other symbol.
• Gamble – After you hit a winning combination you can either take the money and continue playing or press the “Gamble” button which appears above “Spin”. It is a classic red/black guessing game, but you can always double your income if you are brave enough!
Our take on Black Hawk
This software product is not the best one Wazdan created. Bonus rounds could embellish this game and take it to another level but, unfortunately, you will not find any here. The theme is interesting though and I personally love anything related to The Middle Ages. And with the unconventionally placed paylines anything is possible!
