Book of Secret is a 5 reels, 10 paylines video slot by Synot, a developer company we don't hear too often from, but which delivers a quality content nonetheless. Game's RTP is estimated at 96.05% with volatility standing at 23. It was released in January 2018 and contains some special features such as extra spins, expanding wild symbols and a very sexy female archaeologist (yes, this is another one of male-centric slot games...c'est la vie). So let's get to the gist of this game celebrating Egyptology.

Theme

That last sentence in the previous paragraph was a dead giveaway, so yeah – this is a game with ancient Egypt, its cultural wealth and the promise of the afterlife for the pharaohs in focus. The excavations on this archaeological site are led by the dead ringer for Indiana Jones, only in a low-cut jacket and in a very female form. Her expedition has led her to a well-preserved a tomb or a temple of sorts that has statues of Gods lurking in the dark as the supporting pillars at each side of the reels. The screen is suitably colored in crème shades, depicting the dust and earthy tones of the dugouts. Reels themselves are in a slightly darker maroon, so that symbols, clothed in vibrant shades, pop out significantly. Lower-end symbols are the card signs like, A, K, Q, J etc and there's nothing special about them. What is special is the girl archaeologist logo which is the Wild, the high-value symbols of the pharaoh mask, Egyptian cross (that rulers use to carry around like a scepter) and a green scarab amulet. The scatter symbol is represented by the golden Egyptian Book of Secret (based on the Book of the Living or of the Dead, it's unclear which) with the Eye of the Horus on it. The beauty of the game is undeniable, and as if to prove a point, its soundtrack is carefully composed to evoke and revisit the traditional feel of the land of Cleopatra, Nefertiti, Ramesses and other notable pharaohs.

Betting Options and Functions

You can easily set the level of your bet at the lower end of the screen, where the players' panel is. Wager can be adjusted from 0.20 to 20.00 and on the left to it, you can monitor your total remaining balance – wins are indicated just to the right. You can set your max bet by clicking at the button with the same wording right next to the Spin button and Auto Spin which can be set to 1000 or even infinity! Paylines pay from the left to right and you check out the game's cashout diagram if you click on the menu icon at the bottom-left and then on the trophy icon. After each win during the main game, the Max Bet button will be replaced by the gamble feature button. Clicking on it, a new screen will open that will ask you to choose what will be the color of the card about to be drawn – red or black. If you guess right, your winnings will be doubled. If you don't, you will be taken back to the main game. You can also use the Halve option to credit half of your win to your balance and gamble the other half. Also, and this is very important, take heed of the Collect button that will appear after every win. You need to click it to credit the wins to your balance.

Features

There isn't too much in the ways of features in this game. At least three scatter symbols will grant a round of 10 extra spins during which there will be special expanding symbols. Extra spins can be retriggered with the same scatter symbol. During the extra spins mode, one of the symbols is chosen to be the Special expanding symbol which may expand and pay extra on the reels they occupy.

Our Take

Book of Secret is a video slot if genuine attractiveness, benefiting from the popularity of the Egyptian theme. It looks very nice and it sounds just the same, and the gamble feature is a nice little extra if you're feeling lucky and would like to double your win in an easy way. However, some more additional features would be appreciated in a game like this: just imagine mini games with a theme like this, possibilities seem endless. Still, even with just extra spins mode, we feel satisfied enough because they do contain the expanding special symbol which can and will grand big wins left and right.
